Compliance Officer

The main purpose of the function is to fulfill the role of Compliance advisor, providing expertise, advices, and guidance in order to support the compliance of the bank with applicable laws and regulations.


Main responsibilities


As a compliance officer that focus on advisory activities, your main activities will be the following:

  • Set up and maintain an efficient regulatory watch function. Identify and assess impact on new / upcoming regulations affecting the bank.
  • Oversee and provide relevant Compliance input on transversal projects (e.g. digital roadmap).
  • Support the set up and the reviews of framework / policies (including local transposition of Group frameworks). Ensure the framework remains align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Provide ad-hoc relevant Compliance advices on a timely basis.

 

Working in a private banking environment, you will face multiple compliance areas such as investor protection (incl. MIFID II), anti-money laundering, governance …

 

You will be in contact with all departments of the bank.

 

You will be supported by the expertise from the Compliance team at local and Group level.

 

In order to ensure the continuous development of your expertise, you will assist relevant internal and external trainings, forums, or working groups.

 


Education, qualification and/or work experience requirements


  • Master degree in Law
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience related to Legal / Compliance areas in the financial sector
  • Fluent Dutch / French, very good level in English

Skills, abilities and knowledge requirements


  • Organizational skills: (a) ability to meet pre-established deadline, (b) ability to prioritize the work to be done, and (c) ability to rationalize advices in order to avoid lengthy back and forth in the decision process.
  • Written and oral communication skills: ability to explain complex Compliance requirements in simple words.
  • Effective team player and able to work independently
  • Focus on solution and problem solving abilities
